JAKARTA: Indonesia on Tuesday (July 7) awarded its highest state honour, the "Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna" to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in recognition of his leadership and contribution to strengthening bilateral relations and advancing cooperation between the two countries.

Praising India's development model, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said several of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiatives had inspired policies in his own country. He said programmes that delivered results in India had also proved effective in addressing similar challenges in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Tuesday awarded Indonesia's highest civilian honour, the Bintang Adipurna of the Republic of Indonesia, during his visit to Jakarta, where the two countries also expanded their strategic partnership by signing a series of agreements across key sectors.
